Innovative herbicide formulation for beet crops

Published on 24/10/2014

Betanal Quattro is a flexible, convenient and easy to use option for post emergence weed control in beet crops,” says Daniel Suddaby, Bayer CropScience territory manager.
“It is unique in that it contains the four most commonly used herbicide active ingredients used in beet crops in one complete formulation,” he adds.
Typically in the past the usual practice has been to tank mix up to three products into “triple mixes” for post emergence weed control in beet.
“Now with the ‘four in one’ formulation technology, Betanal quattro provides an easy to use alternative to triple mixes. It also reduces chances of mixing and tank filling errors and lessens the storage, transport and disposal of packaging,” Suddaby says.
Betanal quattro also provides increased flexibility as it can be used from the beet crop cotyledon stage onwards.
“In our trials it has demonstrated strong efficacy on weeds while providing good safety to the crop.”

Chris Miln, Bayer marketing manager, says the launch will be backed by a comprehensive marketing campaign called ‘grow bigger beet’ to spread the word about the new herbicide’s features and benefits.
“Our promotional elements include advertising, billboards, a user guide brochure and radio advertising. Additionally a web-based microsite ( will be available with further information on Betanal quattro and weed control programmes for beet crops,” he says.
“All in all, given the growing farmer interest in fodder beet and in obtaining good results from these crops, we’re anticipating strong response to the campaign and looking forward to a busy spring,” Miln says.
Betanal quattro will be available in 5 and 15 litre plastic packaging this season which is Agrecovery compatible.
