Packaging change on the way

Published on 09/12/2020

In line with global brand packaging guidelines, labels for herbicides, fungicides, insecticides and other product categories were initially colour-coded with a spectrum of different shades.

There were three different greens used for herbicides, for example, depending on crop type – dark green for arable, medium green for brushweeds and light green for pasture. Fungicides were differentiated by three different shades of purple, and insecticides by three different shades of orange.

“But we found that the different shades of the same colour all looked very similar when they were on the shelf. Customer feedback was that it was hard to differentiate between products,” explains marketing manager Glen Surgenor. "With 40 product lines, we don’t want any risk of someone picking up the wrong product by mistake.”

Now the colour palette has been simplified, and products grouped more by crop than by category. The new look is rolling out now and will be in-store soon.
