Betanal Quattro even more convenient for 2015

Published on 25/09/2015

That’s the word from Bayer CropScience territory manager Daniel Suddaby.

“The label now has a maximum use rate of five litres per ha which allows farmers to more effectively target larger weeds and
some harder to control weeds like spurrey and nettle.

The maximum rate should only be used once the beet crop has reached the two true leaf stage,” he says.

Further changes to the label include a reduction in the previous withholding period from 100 days to 56 days and increased flexibility regarding compatibility.

“Betanal quattro can be tank mixed with the insecticide Lorsban 50EC or with the herbicides Pyramin DF and Versatill PowerFlo,
and with other tank mix partners if that use has shown crop safety. The best source of more advice on compatibility is your closest Bayer CropScience representative,” Suddaby adds.

He says critical factors for success when using Betanal quattro in fodder crops are timing, growth stage of the beet crop and
the size, growth rate and species of weeds present.

Starting early and targeting weeds that are small and actively growing is the most effective approach.

Chris Miln, Bayer CropScience marketing manager, says feedback from farmers who used the new herbicide last season was very positive.

“Feedback on its ease of use and effectiveness at controlling weeds were common themes. The convenience of the four in one
formulation was positively received, with the key benefits of this seen to be less complexity, fewer drums to handle and time savings.”

Milne says Bayer CropScience will be conducting a Betanal quattro “huge convenience” campaign this spring.

Advertising will include testimonial adverts featuring Betanal quattro users from last season.

Alongside this will be the website www. growbiggerbeet.co.nz with more information on the product including a frequently
asked questions section as well as more detailed case studies from farmers who used it in 2014. For more information go to www. growbiggerbeet.co.nz or contact your Bayer CropScience territory manager.
