New glyphosate range backed by NZ experience

Nufarm NZ is currently rolling out its Weed- Master brand nationwide, and says response from the trade has been very positive in the lead up to what promises to be a busy spring spray out market.
The company's distribution of Roundup concluded 28 August, and it says staff at its Otahuhu manufacturing and distribution site have been working overtime to ensure its continued commitment to local glyphosate supply translates to product in store when farmers need it.
Country manager Brett Sutherland says it's an exciting time for one of the world's largest formulators and suppliers of glyphosate
herbicides.
"The new WeedMaster portfolio includes four products, positioned to cover the most common requirements of the NZ rural market.
These include a premium, mid and traditional strength option followed by a niche dry formulation.”
Critically, both the premium and mid tier  WeedMaster offerings will contain Nufarm's unique dual salt technology.
Standard formulations of glyphosate typically contain isopropylamine (IPA) salt.
IPA salt in isolation creates formulation challenges when the objective is to increase the active ingredient loading, while maintaining a strong and robust surfactant load, Sutherland says.
"One of Nufarm’s main points of focus has been the development of unique and innovative mixed glyphosate salt technology. This includes combinations involving potassium (K), isopropylamine (IPA) and mono ammonium (NH4) salts. These uniquely formulated products deliver superior efficacy, excellent tank mix compatibility, easier handling due to lower viscosity and excellent low temperature storage stability.”
It took years of research by Nufarm to discover that the addition of a second salt, combined with a unique surfactant package,
could make glyphosate even more effective and easier to use.
Independent trial work has been generated for WeedMaster brand products here in NZ and results show excellent performance under our conditions, he says.
Pulse Penetrant is recommended for all spring applications, and all WeedMaster formulations qualify for points under the Priority
Partnership loyalty programme.
